Quran Competition Launched in Nigeria’s Bauchi State

IQNA – The 39th edition of Nigeria’s Bauchi State Quranic Recitation Competition kicked off in the capital of the state on Saturday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competition in Jama’are Local Government Area of the state, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed disclosed the release of N130 million to the state organizing committee of the contest.

The governor noted the government’s support as an effort to inculcate the habit of Quranic memorization among youths of the state.

Represented by the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, the governor said, “The history of the Quranic Recitation Competition in Nigeria cannot be completed without Bauchi State considering the record performance of the state indigene who excels in various competitions home and abroad.

“Hence, the need to continue supporting the competition to encourage present and future generations.”

The governor, who enjoined the participants to see Quran recitation beyond just competition due to its significant rewards, equally wished the committee a hitch-free exercise.

Chairman of the State Quranic Recitation Competition Committee Hassan Zango commended the support for the competition and said, “The committee is working hard to ensure that justice is done to the participants so that the state will continue performing excellently at both national and international levels.”

The participants, drawn from all twenty local government areas of the state, compete in six categories of the contest.
